This gemstone is one of the rarest among the sapphire group. The pink and orange color forms a mixture similar to the color of sunset. The term “padparadscha” is derived from the Sinhalese word for an aquatic lotus blossom. Padparadscha sapphires are mainly found in Sri Lanka, as well as Madagascar and Tanzania.
