BENITOITE

Benitoite is a rare blue barium titanium cyclosilicate formed in low temperature and high pressure environment settings. It is discovered in 1970 between San Francisco and Los Angeles. It is one of the rarest gemstone found in the world that appears bright blue to bluish white in color. In 1985 it is named California's official state gem and can only be identified in very few areas including California, San Benito County, Japan, and Arkansas.
